Drivers Overpay an Average of $368 on Car Insurance Every Year

Those "you could save 15 percent or more on your car insurance" commercials might be underestimating the savings. NerdWallet did a survey and found that drivers could save an average of 32% on their insurance if they just shopped around—a savings of $368 a year. The financial comparison site looked at car insurance quotes for 1,000 Zip Codes across the US and found prices varied, for a given zip code, by 154% on average (for a hypothetical 40-year-old married male drive and a clean driving record).
